Anti-Human Trafficking (HT) SafetyNet team provides:  

  • Support to youth (and their families/caregivers) at risk for or impacted by exploitation 
  • In person assessments & assistance in FQHC clinical settings; warm hand offs to ongoing case managers 
  • Behavioral health linkages and referrals to outside agencies  
  • Coordination with community partners 
  • Participation in relevant anti-trafficking meetings both internal to CHO and external (Coordinated Support for Trafficked Youth, SafetyNet, etc.) 
  • Short to long-term clinical case management when complex needs are identified (mental health, developmental concerns, pregnancies)  
  • Facilitation of therapeutic groups to serve youth 
  • Brief therapy (at the discretion of the MSW that is part of the behavioral health team as a bridge to ongoing services) via non-specialty mental health, including psychoeducation of patients and caregivers.  Grant funded so no age or insurance constraints 
  • Trainings and consultations to providers on best practices for supporting target population  
  • Resources needed including basic needs gift cards, transportation, emergency housing (details below) 
  • Help in crisis situations with youth followed by the anti-HT team  

The Human Trafficking Intervention and Prevention Program team (SafetyNet) supports children, youth, and families at risk for or impacted by exploitation. This includes children and youth with current or past involvement in commercial sexual exploitation and/or forced labor and labor trafficking. The team additionally supports youth with a history of sexual assault or sexual abuse, in collaboration with the Center for Child Protection team.

Resources 

  • Education and Training:   The team leads regular trainings on HT with the residents via a CAP Seminar.  The team is available to provide education an anti-trafficking efforts to interested groups. 
  • Basic needs gift cards via Reward Genius/ Tango gift card platform.   Client can select the gift card that will best meet their needs.  MSW will need a functional email address for the youth for these gift cards. 
  • Transportation via UberHealth (or Uber/Lyft via Reward Genius above). 
  • ReloShare SafeStays emergency housing for clients 18 yrs and above (or minors with a trusted adult) for 1-2 weeks.  Clients do not need to have a credit card on file and can register under a pseudonym if needed for safety reasons.   ReloShare does not provide case management, so client should be linked with an agency that does, such as SHADE. 
  • SHADE Advocates  Support via SHADE advocates, Survivors Healing and Dedicated to Empowerment.   Survivors of gender-based violence and/or trafficking who have undergone training to support clients and provide case management, accompaniment, and support.  They will be on site ~8 hours per week and can support ED and inpatient if consulted by the team. 
  • Pharmacy Services  There is a patient care fund with the Claremont Clinic Pharmacy that can cover important medications not covered by insurance and/or if a prior auth snafu is disrupting important clinical care.  Order via Apex and mention in notes:  SafetyNet patient care fund.
